9 MoNtHs!!!

So our little guy is 9 months old already!! Oh man it makes me sad! I mean happy,but he for sure isn't my little cuddle bug anymore!!!! Its crazy to me that we waited 4 years for him, and he is growing up so stinking fast!! He is such a smart little guy too!! Here are his 9 month stats:

length-29.75 inches! just shy of 95%

weight-20.5 lbs. just over 50%

head- 18.25 inches. just over 50%

So basically he is gonna be like his grandpa Nielsen and be a tall guy! this is good!! He has been walking around furniture and while holding mom or dads hand. He has 1 tooth, another one or two on the way, he has had his first haircut just a few weeks ago! He loves to dance, and play with his puppies as well as his daddy!And he brings so much happiness to our lives!! I cant believe only 3 more months til he is a year!!

So alot has happened at the Nielsen house since July! I will try to remember all of it, bare with me, I am gonna be really random. Also, my computer is being crazy and wont allow me to upload my pics except one of my vacation. kinda strange.

August came and went so fast, and it seems like we didn't get much of a summer at all! My sister Shannon and her cute kiddos were here for 5 weeks, and I miss them so much! we got to spend some time hanging out, but its never enough when we only see each other once or twice a year.

September came and went in a blur. Ridge learned to crawl !!! He didn't love it at first, it took him a few weeks to figure out how to go fast, but didn't take long! I was crazy busy with back to school time at work, but we had record weeks, so it was worth it! Ridge got a really nasty case of the stomach flu, and had to spend a night in the hospital. I have never been so scared! the doctors couldn't figure out what was wrong. he was projectile vomiting, and falling to sleep while standing up, and when we did a head scan he just laid there which it so out of character for our little man. The doctors were sure he had some sort of head injury or poisoning. The next morning he was fine other than being really swollen from the iv. The day after he was released Shawn and I both got it REALLY BAD, as did the babysitter and her whole family. The day we got Ridge home from the hospital, he learned to pull himself up to furniture, an was walking around the sofa in 1 day!! he is so smart!!

That following week, Shawn started school. He is doing his classes online through UVU, and then he goes to the airport 3 days a week to fly helicopters!! We are hoping to be done with school in about a year and a half to two years. After that Shawn wants to go to Alaska or somewhere in the Northwest to get more experience around mountains so he can eventually fly for Lifeflight. The first flight was a little sketchy, and he didn't know if his stomach was going to be able to handle it. (he is notorious for having motion sickness) But once he got the hang of controlling the movement, he LOVES it!!

I have just been working like crazy. I was able to go to Las Vegas last week for a Regional conference with Great Clips. It was a much needed break, and I was recharged for work! we stayed at a really amazing resort. Loews, just outside of Henderson. I missed my boys like crazy though!! I cant imagine having to be gone from my Ridgey-poo any longer, I almost cried when I got home and he gave me such a big hug!!!

We also put our house for Sale the end of September. We are hoping to downsize for a while until Shawn is done with school. We are going to eventually have to move when he finishes, so we figure if we sell now, it will be less stress for both of us. So if ya know anyone who is interested we are practically giving it away!! Its a 4 bed, 2 bath, Ranch. main floor laundry, 2 car garage, walk out basement, with half of the basement unfinished, so there is room for at least 1-2 more bedrooms and another bath. Great neighbor hood too!!!

Ridge has learned the motions to Itsy Bitsy spider, as well as a few signs. He knows "more please" "tired" "all done" and we are working on hungry and thirsty, as well as mommy and daddy.

Well I think that's about all, or at least all I can think of! Happy fall!!!

Saturday night we went with Kyle and Jonna to American Falls to have a little fun fishing and roast some hot dogs and mallows. Despite the guys efforts, fishing just wasn't in the cards for them between crazy boaters and the dogs. Jonna, Ridge and I enjoyed watching them attempt it and just enjoyed the nice summer air! All in all it was a good night, and I love spending time with Jonna even though we don't get to see each other very often.

Ridge LOVED the sand, (as you can see he even thought it was pretty tasty!)

So I don't know if all of you know this, but a few years ago I was on the cover of Idaho Bride magazine, as well as one of the advertisements, and my dress was on the cover again the following year. I have to admit it was pretty fun, and I was recognized all over the area. Well, I am pleased to announce that we have a new celebrity in our family! While Shawn was in Moab, a writer for JP magazine was quite impressed with Shawn's toy. All of the guys in the 4-wheel drive club were pretty excited for the issue to come out, and all of Shawns friends are teasing him about being the centerfold. Shawn was in the jeep, you just cant see him. I have to tell ya, the wagoner and I aren't the greatest of friends some days. (mainly because it looks so pretty in my driveway) But it is REALLY fun to play in. Anyway, While Shawn was in Moab they asked if they could do a little writeup on the wagoner, and put it in an issue. We thought it would just be a little pic with a little about it, but CHECK IT OUT!!! Way to go HONEY!!!

Wow, I cant believe I am that big of a slacker!!!! I have a lot to update this time, so much has happened! Ridge is now 4 months and 2 weeks! We had his checkup last week, and he is in the 80% for his length!!! 26 1/2 inches! he is 15.6 pounds, and in 6 months clothes already! He is so fun!! I have tons and tons of pictures, so I am just going to post them and give you a rundown of all of them. We had him blessed the first weekend of May, and Shawn did an amazing job, and Ridge was so good. I couldn't find an outfit like I wanted, so I went to The DI and found a women's XL sweater and made him a blessing outfit with no pattern!!! I think it turned out pretty dang good for just cutting and sewing as I went.( the picture of it on the couch its streched out, so it looks really long waisted, but it fit him pretty good.) He loves his saucer, he plays and plays for hours. He just started food this last week, and he loves carrots, yogurt, rice, but hates bananas....kinda strange. And today he rolled over!!! I didn't have my camera out, and was so bummed, and Shawn was pretty bummed that he missed it too. His hair is coming back pretty good finally, I was so sad when it all fell out, it was dark and wavy, and I was sure it wouldn't come back that way, but it looks like it might be, plus a few calics. anyways, I will quit rambling, and just post pics. Have fun, there's alot!!

So I am finally getting around to updating! I am a little occupied lately, and I am back to work now too. I do love my job, but I hate leaving him!!! Our soon to be niece in law Sami watches him for about 20 hours a week. He loves going there..... ( he told me s0...) I just wish I didnt have to work.

He is getting so big! I took him in for his 2 month checkup and shots a week ago, and he was 11.5 lbs, and 24 inches long!! that puts him in the 50% for his weight and 80% for length!!! So big!! He also did awesome while getting his shots. He cried for just a sec, and then he was back to his usual happy self., and was talking to the nurse. He still has reflux really bad, but other than clearing is throat alot, it doesn't seem to faze him.

I actually took him in yesterday with a nasty cough, and its just because of his reflux, so I really hope he grows out of it soon. But he has gained 8oz in just over a week, so he is now 11lbs 13 oz. I guess I just want less laundry and I would love to be able to lay him down to sleep instead of having him sleep in his chair or the swing.

He is talking up a storm now days, and I love it!! He is so interactive, and just jabbers your ear off. It defiantly helps me get going in the mornings when he is so happy.

Its been a while since we posted last. Ridge will be 8 weeks old on Wednesday!!! crazy I know. I have really enjoyed staying home with him, and I am not really looking forward to going back to work. I have to go back full time on the 5th. I miss work, but I am pretty sure I will have a melt down when I have to leave him.

We really haven't been up to much other than just hanging out at home. He is getting so big now. He is making lots of noises now, and smiles alot!! He loves to hang out by himself on the floor, he kicks and squills for an hour or two before he decides that's enough. He isnt too fond of tummy time, but he humors me for about 20 mins.

I took him to the doctor at 6 weeks because he has horrible reflux, he is now on previcid 2 times a day, but it hasn't really helped. We even had ultra sounds done on his stomach because Dr Blake was concerned at the amount that he spits up, but everything looks normal, so we just have to wait it out. At least he is still gaining weight. He was 9 lbs 11 oz at 6 weeks, and just over 22 inches long. I can only imagine how big he would be if he could only hold all his food down.

Even with all the spitting up he is such a happy baby!!! I honestly can only think of 2 times where he really screamed and that was only for about 20 mins or so! we are so blessed, and so very grateful for our little guy!!!

Our little miracle is growing like a weed!! Ridge will be three weeks old tomorrow, and it makes me so sad because I have to go back to work in 4 weeks now!! It sure does go by fast when all you do is watch them sleep!

Its amazing to me at how much he really has completed our lives. He is such a good baby, He seriously sleeps about 6 hours at night, and I feed him about every 3 1/2 to 4 hours during the day. I am so blessed to be this little guys mommy.

When he was a week old we took him in to get some photos done. Krystal our niece does photography ( Blushe Photography) and she did an amazing job. We just got the disk back today, and I am so excited to show them off. Our computer has been down for a while now, so I will post other pics of him at home as soon as we get it going again. These are a few of my favorites.

Ok, He is 5 days old now, and I am finally allowing myself to put him down to blog. I am so excited to say that our little man is finally here!!! It seems like after all our problems and miscarriages that we have been pregnant for 4 years. Well worth the wait!!

He was born Wednesday morning 2/3/10 at 8:22 am. He weighed 7lbs 13oz, and was 20 1/2 inches long. I was in labor for about 14 ish hours, and actually pushed for about 3 because he got turned and was stuck. Needless to say it was all worth it!!! We only stayed at the hospital a day, and its so nice to have him home. From the minute he came into this world, he as been wide awake checking out his new world. Ridge has lots of dark hair, and his daddy's dimples, and is just perfect in every way!! Here are a few pictures, the ones in the blue outfit are especially fun because its the outfit Shawn wore home from the hospital. Supper fun!! Anyways, here is our little miracle Ridge William Nielsen!!

So I know I should have it already done, but I cant help it, I have an idea of what I want in my head, and I don't want to finish the nursery until it looks like I have imagined it. we finally got the crib in, and the strip on the wall, so now I just have to get the new carpet in, and do a little last minute touches. I bought a shelf today, that I need to get painted, and then I think its about done. So here is what it looks like so far, minus the shelf, and the crib bumper, its currently being sewn together. Also, this belly shot of me was taken this morning on my way to work! YAY! for baby bumps!

So I know, I am a little slow... but hey, I am prego, that's a good excuse right? No, its not, but I am finally getting something. Christmas was good this year, Christmas eve I had to work until 3 and after that we went to the Nielsen's Christmas Eve party. Christmas day we went to Roberts to my parents and had a fun day of playing games, and eating as usual!

Shawn got me a jeep for Christmas!! Yay! Its older, and just our style, so much easier for me to climb in and out of prego, and I can put the dogs in it, and not have to worry about them climbing on the baby when he comes.

I have to admit, I was such a baby this year! My hormones were for sure getting the best of me!!! I just kept thinking about how Mary would have been in labor all day on the stupid donkey, and how frustrated and uncomfortable she would have been. And on top of that knowing that you are about to give birth to the Savior of the world and having to bring him into the world in the barn!!! ah, still get so emotional!!

For New Years we went with Shawn's family to Island Park as usual. I had to stay in the cabin the whole time while he played, and I was a little bummed, but I figure that baby is defiantly worth not snow machining for right!?!

We are all settled back in now, and back to the routine of things. At my last doc apt. she confirmed what I had been saying for months that I am bigger that I should be and so is the baby, so we should have him for sure by the first week in Feb!!! YAY!! Maybe 2 weeks early, that's what we are both measuring anyways, so if I go till I measure 42 weeks, I am not going to be such a happy camper.

Today I was able to get another shot at the 3D ultra sound. Mindy is so nice to keep doing them for me. We tried a few weeks ago, but he wasn't cooperating, and the placenta was a little in the way to see him very much.

I was so excited to see him today!! He is such a cute little munchkin!! I think he is going to have my round face, and its looking like my double chin, but I think he will be a good combo of his daddy and I!!! What do ya think?!

Ok, so I havent really been up to much, just getting HUGE!!!! ha ha.... Seriously though I am huge! see ....

This was taken the weekend after Thanksgiving. I am starting to feel like an oompa loompa. I feel great though. I love being pregnant.

Thanksgiving was fun, my family came down, and we painted the nursery, and got projects done around the house. I will post pictures as soon as I get the crib. (its on back order.)

And this little guy is our new pet. Well kinda, Shawn was bringing in fire wood on Sunday night, and as he was adding one of the logs to the fire, he saw this beauty opening its wings as it unthawed with the warmth of the fire.

I got some sugar water for it, and its been hanging out in the basement for the last 4 days. CRAZY HU?!?? (I think its a little Christmas Miracle, I mean Butterflies in Idaho in the middle of December.) Anyways, I am going to try to keep it alive as long as I can.

That's all for now. Sorry, nothing too exciting. OHH!!! I do only have 9 1/2 weeks or less!!! YAY!!

So I know what you are all thinking. "Why did they get another dog with a baby on the way? " Am I right? Well, I wasn't planing on it. I mean yes I miss Ringo, but I had decided to wait a while til after the baby was at least 6 months or a year to start looking for a new dog. Then Shawn convinced me to go to the pound and just see how we felt about starting to look. "We don't have to get a dog now, lets just start looking and see if there are any other type of dogs we like." Well, it was a trap. I saw Ellie the first walk through of the pound, and she is so stinking cute!! She was the only dog not freaking out and barking at us, and I have to admit, I have a soft spot in my heart for Shih Tzu's. I saw her on Thursday, and I finally decided that I couldn't deal with the fact that is we didn't go get her, that she could have been put down, so Shawn went and got her while I was at work on Saturday.

She is part Yorkie, and is just over a year old, so I don't have to worry about potty training a new dog, or worry about all the puppy craziness. She is perfect, I changed her name from Emmie, I just think Ellie fits her and us better, and she is such a good dog. She is perfectly contest with just hanging out by herself, and she loves to play. So welcome home Ellie!!

So, This is really hard post for me, so if I don't make sense, or am skipping words, that's why. Shawn called me Friday while I was at lunch and told me that my little Ringo buddy had been hit by a car and had died. Any of you who know us very well know that he was my baby seriously, he slept with me, and did just about everything with us. I still am having a really hard time not breaking into a sob about 40 times a day. Shawn got Ringo for me 4 years ago on my birthday. We had gone to dinner and when I pushed the button for the garage door to open, when we got home, there was this cute little guy in the middle of our garage sticking his fluffy little head out of the box ready for me to come get him. Our house is so lonely now, and poor Zeus is so depressed and just lays around and whines. I don't think my pregnancy hormones are helping my situation at all either. So, here is to my little buddy!! I miss you Ringo!!!

So I had my 25 week checkup yesterday, and I am feeling like a beached whale. I am starting to get winded really easy, and just have felt really huge for only being 25 weeks. I got an ultra sound done, and he is actually still measuring 2 weeks ahead. He has been consistently the entire pregnancy, so that makes me feel allot better!! That puts him just about into the 3rd trimester already!! crazy hu ?!? He is measuring in at roughly 2 lbs, which is huge for 25 weeks and a little big for 27 weeks, but just about right. Today I measured my belly from around my belly button and I am 37 1/2 inches!!! that's big!! But the good news is, is that I can still get my old pants on, just not do them up, so not too bad right!???!? I hope so. anyways, here are some fun pics of the ultra sounds, one is his profile, and the other is his foot!! Yay!! So cute!

So I have had a lot of requests for a new baby bump pic, so here it is....

its true, i am looking like I swallowed a pumpkin. I am 25 weeks now, and feeling pretty good. my feet are starting to swell when I work all day, and my insides are starting to feel a little like punching bag, but I am loving being pregnant!!!!

Today I was put in as 2nd councilor of the Young Women in our ward. I know what you are thinking, Lacie in charge of our youth!?!? A little scary I know, but I am really looking forward to it. I am especially excited to be with the bee hives. I think I would be a little intimidated by the older girls.

And on a sad note, Shawn accidentally deleted EVERYTHING on the dvr.... I am so SAD!! all my late night Monster Qwest adventures are gone! along with my home decorating shows, and Shawn's hunting shows. Its gonna be a very boring week or two at our house until we get another stockpile of shows....

So as you all know Leslie and I are neck in neck with these babies!! Its so much fun!! We had our 20-21 week checkup on the same day, and it turns out, our babies are the ExAcT same size!!! CRAZY HU!?!? Pretty fun, you really couldn't have planned it any better!! We are now 22 weeks as of tomorrow, and here is our last baby belly shot, about 21 weeks 2 days!

ITS SNOWING AT MY HOUSE!!!! I know now what you were expecting, but I love this time of year!! I just do, it makes makes me happy! I spent the night listening to Martina Mcbride, putting up my Halloween decorations, with a nice warm fire burning in the stove, and my Autumn candle burning.... Does it get any better than that?

Also, coming up this week, I go to the doc on Friday, for my 20 (one day shy of 21) week apt. I am really excited, I have started to feel him moving, and I am super anxious to see what he looks like this week. We have a few names picked out, but nothing def yet. any ideas I would love to hear them.

And last but not least...... MY CHAIR IS DONE!!!!! Yay!!! I was so surprised when Shawn brought it home today! I had it all about done yesterday, just had to put the back on it, and its done!!! I am so excited! I don't have any room in my nursery yet, so its sitting in my living room right now, but its finally done!!! hope ya like it!

So my computer is finally up and running again. Yay!! I don't know how I went so long without it. There isn't much to report this time other that I am getting big, and the baby is growing great!! We are 99% sure that we are having a boy!! Super excited!!! the only thing is that by the time he gets here Shawn and I will have 43 nieces/ nephews, and I am having a really hard time finding a name we both agree on that doesn't rhyme with or sound alot like that names that are in our families already.... I HATE not having a name for him yet!!!! Shawn thinks we should just name him "GEORGY PORGY" (not seriously) but that's what he calls him when he talks to him and it drives my crazy!!! I am starting to get really excited, and have got a few things here and there. My belly is starting to get big, and I cant wait till I can really feel the little guy move!! I can a little bit now, but Shawn keeps telling me its just a gas bubble... men....

Oh, and for our Anniversary Shawn got me and Leslie tickets to go see David Cook!! I love him!!! (Shawn and David Cook.) Les and I had a blast other than the old ladies sitting behind us talking the entire time. My pics are a little blurry, but ya get the idea.

So Friday was our 5 year anniversary. It has gone by so fast, but at the same time feels like I have know Shawn my whole life. I can honestly say without a doubt that he is my best friend, and I cant imagine where I would be without him. I am so greatful to have found someone as wonderful as he is, and even more greatful that he has chosen to spend the rest of forever with me!! Its so crazy that we are so much alike, and have the same thoughts and views on life. Even though he isn't much of a talker, he is so fun to have late night talks with, and I have to say, he is really good at making me laugh.
I love this wedding pic of us, but unfortunately, none of our wedding pics were digital, so this turned out fuzzy from the scanner.

The best things in life are worth waiting for....

That's right, you guessed it!!!!! WE ARE FINALLY HAVING A BABY!!! After 3 long years, 4 doctors, and too many prayers to count, we are finally past our first trimester!!!

I found out I was pregnant on June 6, and only after 4 tests did it actually sink in. I was so afraid of letting myself get worked up again, that we didn't really tell anyone for awhile. I switched doctors again, and something is just right this time I suppose.

I have for sure learned patience, and that all things come in time, but I have to say, every week that goes by I am so greatful!!!

As of today I am officially 15 weeks, and that puts our due date on February 14, 2010!! That's right folks, a Valentines baby!! My only concern is that I am seeing a doctor in Blackfoot, and I am terrified that I am going to go into labor in the middle of a snowstorm and be like all the crazy women in my family and have a baby in 2 hours flat. Can you just picture Shawn trying to deliver a baby in the jeep (cause "it will buck drifts ya know!") on I-15 somewhere in between our house and Blackfoot!?!

And for those of you that know my besty Leslie, she and Travis are also having a baby, and we have the SAME due date!!!!!! We are both going to Bingham, and I am so thankful that we are doing this together!!! Its been such a comfort that she is going through the same things at the same times as I am. Its true what they say, "Everything happens for a reason." I guess our babies were meant to come to Earth together.

Shawn's sister Mindy is kind enough to deal with my constant questions and concerns, and I am so lucky to have her around. She has been doing my ultra sounds for me, and I know as scared as she has been to do them for me, I wouldn't have it any other way. She took these amazing shots for us, and I hope you get as big of a kick out of them as we did!! In these shots I am only 12 weeks 5 days, so you can see that the little munchkin is growing like crazy!!

bAcK fRoM vAcAtIoN

We just got back Monday night from our vacation in Texas, and man was it hot there!! It was so nice to see my sister again and her little family. She just had another baby about 6 weeks ago, and it was perfect timing to see the little guy. He is so dang cute, getting chunky monkey and he is a really great baby.

The first night we got in to San Antonio kinda late, so we got back to my sisters house, and hung out for an hour or so, then went to bed. The girls were so funny and shy the first few hours, I hate that I only get to see them every 6 months or so.

Tuesday morning we got up somewhat early and drove 5 hours to South Padre Island. We stayed in the nicest Condo. ( I unfortunately didn't get many pics of our vacation cause my batteries died in my camera and I forgot my charger.) We were only about 300 yards or so from the beach, so it was perfect to just walk down and play in the water whenever. The girls loved the water, and it was so nice to just even hang out and get some sun. Baby Kohen even loved it, there was a perfect little breeze and he didn't cry the whole time we were near the water.

We stayed at South Padre for 3 days, and drove back Friday afternoon. Saturday morning we took all the kids to their grandparents house across town and we all floated the Guadalupe river. It takes about 2 hours or more depending on where you start, and because it moves kinda slow. It was so crowed that day because it was so stinking hot!!! like 105 or so!! We all got kinda sun burned but I think it was worth it.

Sunday we all went to Church for Kohens blessing. I am so glad that we were able to go down for that, because I wasn't able to go when the girls were blessed, and it was nice to be together as a family. (minus Karl) After Church we all took really long naps, then went downtown to see the River Walk. Its so beautiful there and so full of history. Monday morning we got up early and I gave all the girls haircuts, and colored Shannon's. The little girls are so funny about their hair, and showing it off.

My mom and dad bought a car down there, and so they headed out about noon Monday to road trip it home. Shannon and Jason took us to the airport, and as soon as we pulled up Kamryn started crying. We all thought it was because she thought her daddy was leaving, but then she starting crying out "CHON!!!" It was so stinking cute!! She and Shawn were inseparable for most of our vacation, and she didn't want him to leave. I guess I am just chopped liver or something. All in all it was a perfect vacation and much needed.

So, I haven't posted anything for awhile; its been kinda hectic around our place. June flew by in a blur, and I don't really know what we did except alot of working, and a little bit of play. I cut my hair off again, and am getting used to it being short. I love my bangs short, but I get impulsive when I have bad hair days, and cut it myself.... not always a good thing.

Two weekends ago when it finally stopped raining we went and played at the park with Jenny and Shane, and our dogs. It was nice to get out side when it wasn't raining, and I really miss Jenny. ( I know you will read this, and you need to move back to Idaho!!)

Last weekend we went to Missoula MT for my little cousin Jordan's wedding. It was a fast weekend, but it was so nice to meet his new bride Pam, and see Jody and the rest of the fam. Its so crazy to think that Jordan is old enough to be married!! I used to watch him after school when we were little, and its nice to see how he has turned out. We love you guys!!

Over the Fourth, we had a family reunion with Shawn's family, but I didn't get any photos cause I was at work all day. That's right I had to work on the Forth of July!! Who seriously gets haircuts on INDEPENDENCE DAY!??!? Once again, I missed out on alot of family fun, but I did make it up in time for the BBQ and the fireworks.

And this past Sunday I was able to meet up with some friends that I grew up with. I has been so long since I have seen them. Sarah and her husband Joel came from Washington, and we met up at Cortnie and Wrays house for a get together. Shawn didn't go, he had too much stuff to do at home. Anthony was also part of our summer gang, and I really miss having us all together, it was a little strange not having Robert and Gabe there, but hopefully next time we will all meet up. Sarah, Cortnie, and I grew up together since preschool or so, and I miss them so much!! We are all left handed (CRAZY HU?), and so different, but I know they are some of my best and closest friends even thought we live so far way.

Tomorrow we are off to Texas to visit Shannon and Jason, and play on the beach, so I will post photos after we get back. I am so excited to get out of the rain here, and have some fun in the sun!!

So two weeks ago Tuesday ways my 26th !!! birthday. I know I am old, and I didn't really want to do much or make a big deal out of it because I am an old fart now, and lets face it, I am not getting any younger. :) But then I realized, I LOVE my birthdays!!! Shawn and I's first kind of official date/hang out was my 20th birthday. Thanks to Cody and Jonna and Jenny, the great match makers!!!! I was smitten, from the beginning. I had kinda known him for a little while, but thanks to some smooth roommates, that was our official beginning. A year later on my 21st birthday, Shawn proposed while we were in Temple Square celebrating my birthday. (I seriously wanted to go there for my birthday, totally not thinking anything, but I set it up pretty dang nice for him. seriously NO idea it was gonna happen.) Meeting him was the best brithday EVER! So here are some photos to commemorate the last 6 best years of my life!!

Today I was thinking about all the years I used to go to the cemetery with my grandma. we would watch the military salute, and I remember how much I was in awe of the whole thing. I don't know that I really understood what the whole thing was about, but I do remember Shannon and I teasing each other even though we would both get emotional when they would have the moment of silence, or the bag pipes or trumpets playing. Now that I really know what this day is all about I feel that it just isn't enough to show our gratitude. I still get really emotional every time I think about our soldiers, and all the sacrifices they have made in our behalf. So to those of you that are in our armed forces, or have family members that are serving I THANK YOU!!! I hope we can all remember everyday of the year to appreciate our country, and those who serve it.

DATE NIGHT

So Friday night wasn't your typical date night, unless you are talking about Shawn and I. I really don't know of anyone more redneck, and adventurous than Shawn; and I have to admit I do love some good "Off Roading." We went out with about 6 of Shawn friends, and only one other girl, it was pretty fun.

The pictures don't do it justice, I was freaking out at more than one point during the evening. I don't scream anymore, but I am getting really good and closing my eyes and waiting til its over, or we roll the wagoneer. (which I hope never happens!!!)

Other than my allergy attack afterwards,(that I am still paying for!) it was a really fun night!

Ok, so you may or may not know that I am kind of a nut when it comes to being "Earth Friendly". Now don't get me wrong, I am defiantly not a saint by any means, but I love finding new ways, to be GREEN!!!!

And since today is Earth Day, I thought I would share some interesting facts and some of the Earth friendly things that I enjoy!

Did you know that it takes plastic bottle an average of 700 years to decompose in a land fill?

The average American disposes of 4.5 lbs of garbage EVERY DAY!!!! times that by 365, and the average life of what 75 or 80 these days?!? That's 131,400 lbs of trash in your life!!

The average American uses 2200 paper napkins a year!!!!! That's insane!!!

The average American also uses an estimated 80-100 gallons of water a day!!!!

Here are some of the things that I like to use or do, that you might like!!!

Biokleen laundry soap. 100 loads for $14. It lasts forever, and you use a tiny bit! It doesn't really have a smell, but remember that fragrance isn't really good, because that's what all the chemicals are for. If something smells good, it usually isn't good for the environment unless its all natural. CLEAN REALLY DOESN'T SMELL LIKE ANYTHING!

Mrs. Meyer's dryer sheets. They are all natural, and they are made out of biodegradable paper, so unlike traditional dryer sheets they will only take a few years to decompose, as apposed to a few hundred years with traditional dryer sheets. My fav is Lemon Verbena.

Seventh Generation. Everything this company makes is great!! they all smell good, and are made of earth friendly products.

Also, never reuse a plastic bottle unless it is made for reuse. Check out the little number on the bottom of the bottle, every plastic container should have one. They are ranked 1-7. Not all are good however just remember 2,4,5 keep yourself alive. any other number will decompose at different rates and release chemicals into the water or whatever is in it.

I try not to use paper towels when I can, I use old rags or paper napkins. It makes sense and saves paper.

New Furniture

I have wanted new furniture for as long as we have been married. Last year, I had a nice leather set picked out, and then I really seen it, and it was cheep leather, so back to the show rooms I went. I am kinda picky, I wanted something for our upstairs living room, something that was kinda formal, and nice, but not too fancy. Shawn of coarse has an opinion of everything, so I finally got something that I wanted!! He thinks its too fancy, but what do you think. (please be nice cause I really like it.)

Also I am getting pretty dang close on my chair, so here is a sneak peak!!!!!

Thunder storms

I freaking love thunders storms!!! So those of you who live in this area may have enjoyed the thunder storm as much as I did last night. I feel like a little kid when ever it is like that. I wasn't feeling well last night, so I went to bed early, and when the storm started, Shawn came in and opened all the windows and blinds so we could really see it. I seriously love it!! Ten minutes or so after it really got loud, my pour little Zeusy climbed in my bed!!! I never let him in the bed, so I couldn't believe he climbed up so comfortably!!! It was hysterical!! Every time the lightening would flash he would look up and me really fast, and once the thunder hit, he would stick his head under my blanket and whine and shake!!! My big mean dog is a SCARDY CAT!!! Shawn and I were laughing so hard, especially because Ringo was out in the living room barking at the thunder, warning it not to come near. I was just really glad it didn't last as long as it could have because I made him get out of my bed, and he was so afraid!!! I can't even imagine how I am going to be as a mom if I let my DOG climb in my bed when he is afraid..... aah good times......

So its been awhile, and I really don't have much to post, except to say that we are so FREAKING READY FOR SPRING!!! I kinda hate this time of year, because I hate being teased. I wanna wear my sandals, and shorts, and not have to wear my coat everywhere. (although for Christmas Shawn did get me a coat that heats up. yeah, it really does.) But I just want warm weather!!! I am not a patient person as most of you know, so come on already SPRING!!!

Two weeks ago our niece Jordan got married, and we wish her and Slade the best, and this past weekend our besties Cody and Beth finally got married!!!! YAY!!! After almost 6 years of dating they finally tied the knot. We were able to do some decorating for their reception, and it couldn't have been any better. It was simple and perfect. We love them so so so much, and are really going to miss them now that they will be living in Utah. Cody is the one who basically introduced Shawn and I, and Beth and I are just crazy enough to get along great. I unfortunately forgot to take my camera to both weddings, so sorry no photos of either happy couples, but again we wish nothing but the best for all!
I am still mid makeover on my room, between working 6 days a week, and having the stomach bug for most of the past month, I haven't made much progress.... but I promise to keep you all updated.

Here ya go Ashley! 6 Random Things about me!!!

I love bird watching!! I know totally random, but that's the point. I get it from growing up in the middle of nowhere and being a HUGE daddy's girl. by the time I was 10 I could almost name any local bird.... Its true, my dad used to show me off.

I have a Freckle on my lip.... again random, but how many of you knew that about me??

I LOVE scary movies, but HATE being scared...... whats that about??

My favorite color is not pink, but at work I have a pink blow dryer, pink clippers, pink shears, and if I could a pink chair.

I can't whistle..... I used to, I learned the same day I learned to blow bubbles, but I can't anymore and its really sad!!!

Last but not least, I suck at English, but I would love to be a writer.... I don't even read that much, but to have the ability to articulate my crazy thoughts and create different worlds in just words would be a dream come true.

Finding treasures!!!

So as you may recall, I am in the process of making over a very under appreciate, over looked chair. I was able to leave work today a bit early, and was so excited because I finally got my fabric in (not telling yet what colors I went with.) I went to the shop and was pretty dang excited to get that nasty old dry rot gold fabric off, and to my surprise it was a treasure chest!! OK, so I am exaggerating a little, but I did find a few cool things hidden inside.

One $1 bill
Two mini Mag flashlights
Three match books
A few nasty cigarette ends (don't know what they are called) with BRIGHT PINK lipstick on them
A nail file
A freaking brand new leatherman pocket knife
Half a deck of playing cards
A guarantee for complete satisfaction on a wig (always wanted one)
And a partridge in a pair tree (OK not that)

But all in all there was about $80 worth of stuff in my $15 chair!! Shawn was pretty excited about the pocket knife and the flashlights, but he made fun of my chair, so he doesn't get any of it. That's right I am being stingy. I can only imagine what the old lady that sat in this chair must have looked like. Bright pink lipstick, crazy wig, cigarette in mouth with a mean poker face!

I am done taking off the old fabric, but I forgot to take my camera, so I guess you will just have to wait and see the photos of mid makeover when I reveal my finished product. Wish me luck!!

So I know that my title is spelled wrong here, but its for a reason! My wonderful husband still says it that way, and this blog is all about how much I love him!

Shawn and I met 6 years ago, and seriously I knew I wanted to marry him before I even really had much of a conversation with him. ( just ask my room mates.) I guess you could say it was love at first sight. The more I know him, the more I love everything about him, and wonder how I got so lucky. Here are some of the reasons that make my Shawn my Valentime!!

He is without a doubt my best friend.
When he laughs hard he cries, and its the cutest thing ever!!!
He can do just about anything he sets his mind to.
He loves adventures.

My Ugly Chair......

OK, so as a kinda New Years resolution to myself, I have decided to give myself more me time. You know doing things that I enjoy, things that I have kinda given up on since I got married. Shawn and I both thought that turning the spare room in the basement would make a great me room, I can paint whatever, and decorate whatever, and have my mess down there, " My room" so I went to the DI looking for a perfect little desk or table to put my sewing machine on, and all my little organizers. Instead of a desk, I found this....

Now I know what you are thinking... "What was she thinking?" but here is where you come in. I have decided to make this my first official project for my room!!! yay! I am so excited!! I am going to attempt to reupholster it!! What ever colors I decide to make my chair will be the colors that I decorate my room with, the only problem is, I am such a Gemini that I cant pick what color scheme to go with. So here are your choices, and I need your opinions......

a: Charcoal b: turquoise and chocolate or c : kiwi and chocolate. or any combination of the above. Use your imagination, and be nice. I will also be doing an ottoman to match. Thanks for in input!! ( I am really pulling towards the kiwi just so ya know!)

Wow, I can't believe its already 2009!! I was thinking the other day about Mrs. Surerus' 1st grade class and a discussion about where we thought we would be when we were all grown ups and 25 and how I would be 25 in 2008/2009 ..... funny how things aren't quit what I thought they would be, but still amazing! No flying cars, I am not a photographer for National Geographic, ( still my life's ambition) and its turns out I actually do like my sister!! love ya Shanny!! And I still love my pbj's and PBS. I am not positive, but I think when I was 6, I expected us to be ringing in 2009 in space. 2008 was a great year, even though we didn't get to go to outer space, and I am grateful for all the experiences and opportunities that it brought my way.

For New Years eve this year we had friends up to play games and celebrate. It was so much fun, and I don't think I have laughed that hard in a really long time. Everyone underestimated how amazing Shawn and I are as a team when we play the trivia game Blurt. I am sure our neighbors heard us as Shawn's strategy is not only to have to correct answer, but to yell louder than everyone else involved. (my ears are still ringing.) It was so funny and crazy that even quiet little Whitney was screaming on occasion. Jenny and Shane brought sparking cyder to toast in the new year, and I loved having all our friends around. I hope nothing but good for all of you in 2009, and thank you for making my 2008 so great!

Belated Merry Christmas!!

Well, Christmas came and went way to fast, and I cant believe its already 2009! Christmas was really quite at our house this year. Christmas eve, we went up to Shawn's parents for the famous Nielsen party, when you get us all together, there are something like 64 or so of us. Its crazy and hectic, and just the way Christmas should be with all the kids. We had a wonderful buffet, ate way too much, and then the kids did the Nativity, and opened their presents. It was so much fun, and I am so grateful to have such wonderful in laws. It was a little crowded so my pictures didn't turn out so well, but it was sure entertaining trying to get all 15+ kids to follow directions at the same time!

Christmas day my dad and sister came down from Idaho Falls. I cooked Christmas brunch for everyone, and we just ate, and watched movies all day in between plowing the snow and opening gifts. It was hard for me this year not having my whole family there, my mom is in Texas with my sisters family for Christmas and New Year, and my brother got snowed in, in Twin Falls Christmas morning. 2008 was an emotional year for me, loosing my grandma, among other things, and it was really hard not only not having her around, but also not having all my family with us, but all in all it was a wonderful day, and I am so grateful for my family, and our reason for the season. I cant imaging my life without the knowledge of Christ and the miracle of his birth.

So those of you who live in Southeast Idaho know about the fun little snow storm we got on Monday morning, but for those of you that don't, here is a pic to show how much we got in one night.

I love the snow, well, let me rephrase that, I love the idea of snow. I love the sound of the snow under my feet, I love the white canvas and fresh look of it, and I have to admit, I even love to snowboard on the right day.

What I don't love about it, is that I live on a hill, and it makes my life not so pleasant when it comes to driving. Yesterday before I left for work I went out and cleared my driveway so when I pulled out of the garage it would be easy... so I thought. An hour and half, a wonderful nephew and 3 caring strangers later, we finally got my car out of the middle of the road!!!! I love how Pocatello takes such wonderful care of the streets.... ha ha ... To put it mildly I got high centered in the street backing out of my own garage. despite my iriatation though, it truley is the most wonderful time of the year!!!!
